My Session Status
When:
9:30 AM, Friday 28 Jun 2024
(1 hour 20 minutes)
Where:
The Center for Space Education
- Room 7010
The Coding Corner session utilizes five different platforms where participants can learn coding using the LEGO Spike, LEGO Essential, VEX Robotics, Parrot Mambo Drones, and Sphero Bolt. Participants will work through spatial modeling and map zones to complete tasks within the designed space settlement sectors using iPads and laptops.
Each team of participants will have four members and will be given an opportunity to try all five types of robots and drone stations. They will be given a task to complete and will code through a drag-and-drop platform (similar to Scratch). After participants have mastered their task, they can try a task card which will contain basic directives, distance, and other requirements – they may even have to work with another group. The challenge is to have all tasks completed within a set time limit. Participants will collaborate on their findings from the session and offer suggestions on implementation for other grade levels. All activities will come with a sample lesson and student data collection examples. Participants should bring a laptop or phone.
