Mr. John Bud Morris is a member of the Mohawks of Kahnawà:ke with over 30 years senior executive experience in government and business. He has served two terms as an elected Chief of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke and eight years as their Executive Director. He also served as the Executive Director of the Lower Nicola Indian Band in British Columbia before moving to a Director General position with the Government of Canada in 1998. He served as Tewatohnhi’saktha’s (Kahnawà:ke Economic Development Commission) CEO from 1999 to 2016 and is currently their Chief Operations Officer. His accomplishments include growing Tewatohnhi'saktha’s assets from $4 million in 2001 to over $37 million in 2015. He previously held a Board seat with Continent 8 Technologies, a data center company headquartered in the Isle of Man with operations internationally. He also represents Tewatohnhi'saktha in its wholly owned subsidiary as the President of Kahnawà:ke Sustainable Energies whose current project is a 24 Mw wind farm in partnership with Kruger Energy Inc. Mr. Morris has performed consulting engagements for other First Nations, including third party management services. He has also advised Tewatohnhi’saktha Business Loan Fund Inc on its lending activities, acting as a member of its credit committee.
