Dr. Anthony NYONG is the Director of Climate Change and Green Growth at the African Development Bank where he leads the Bank’s efforts to transition Africa to low-carbon and climate-resilient development. He has about 30 years of experience in environmental and natural resources management, climate change, renewable energy and green growth. He was previously the Coordinator of the New Deal on Energy Initiative; Head of the Gender, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Unit; and Head of the Compliance and Safeguards Division at the African Development Bank. Before joining the Bank, he was a Senior Program Specialist at IDRC. Mr. Nyong has served on several Global Advisory and Scientific Boards including the Sustainable Stock Exchange Green Finance Advisory Group; Technical Advisory Panel of the Global Environment Facility; and the Science Advisory Committee of the Global Environmental Change and Food Systems. Dr. Nyong holds a Ph.D. from McMaster University, Canada and other Post-Graduate degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria; University of Oxford, UK; Cranfield University, UK; and Mohawk College, Canada. He is a Senior Executive Fellow of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a Chartered Geographer and a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences.
