Jan was first introduced to the SF Convention scene by her husband Nick, a native to the St.Louis area. He is from Kirkwood and started attending Archon around #3. It was Archon where Jan found Filking and her place in fandom. Jan has been passionate about building the DucKon Filk track. From 1993 to 2011 Jan tickled the creativity of many filkers who then wrote “ When I was a boy” “ Brain sludge” and from our own Gary Hanak “ The mistress of the filk”. Jan organized the filk for two of the Chicago Worldcons. In 2010 Jan received the prestigious “Filk Hall of Fame “ award recognizing her continued involvement in the filk community. In 2013 Archon 37 has Jan as their FAN GOH. She is known as “Jan of the magic fingers”. Celebrating 40 years as a Massage Therapist.
