Kimberly G. Hargan is a retired professional alien.  (That is to say, a U.S. diplomat, so in his career he was an alien wherever the U.S. government sent him.)  His wife and daughter were both aliens, but now they are naturalized.  Unfortunately, there is no naturalization process for pets, so our cat remains an alien.

He grew up on the west coast of the United States of America, living at various times in the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California.  In college he studied archaeology, earning a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's (and almost a doctorate) from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany.  While at SUNY Albany he attended a presentation by a recruiter for the Foreign Service and decided to give that a try.  He joined the Foreign Service in 1987, and served in press and cultural positions at U.S. embassies in Denmark, Tanzania, China, Kazakhstan, the U.S. Consulate in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and the embassies in Armenia and Finland, as well as several assignments in Washington, D.C.

He first discovered science fiction in the third grade at the age of eight years old.  He himself has likewise been writing pieces of science fiction since the third grade (many of them for class writing assignments).  He is the author of The Dauphin’s Lost Jewels, published by Pro Se Press.
