Nature is stranger than fiction, even science fiction.  In the waters of Baltimore Harbor lurks a small single cell plant that eats other algae, produces a toxin that makes holes in its prey as well as any unlucky fish that would try to eat it.  Nature’s revenge to this single-cell plant is a parasite that burrows into the cell and eats its brain (nucleus) while producing 40 copies of itself.  At the correct time, the parasite and its brethren bursts out to find another host.
