Sydney is an avid science fiction fan, a dedicated student of historical swordplay, and a founding member of St. Michael's Salle d'Armes along with her husband Tony Barajas. As a busy physician in San Jose she still finds time to participate on panels from Science fiction to Science reality including but not limited to bioterrorism, cloning, DNA mapping, medical ethics, historical swordplay from theatrical to practical, and the historical survivability of wounds. She is an Instructor-at-Arms from the SJ Fencing Master’s Program. She is looking forward to spirited debates, challenging stereotypes and exploring alternate realities at BayCon 2016.
