My name is Kat Porter and, although I am a mild mannered executive assistant and office manager by day, I believe in the power of play and imagination. Raised by people in parks and recreation (including drama, dance, theater, and arts and crafts), it's a natural progression from recreation to theater to Ren faires to cosplay and conventions.

I have several years of costume work and dramaturgy for youth theater programs and Ren faire, and now cosplay. I've designed from scratch and thrift store finds, ranging from fantasy (Midsummer Night's Dream, She Kills Monsters) to period (Crazy For You, The Miser) and contemporary (Almost Maine, Rumors) - as well as repaired costumes live backstage with duct tape and staples. Cartridge pleating doesn't scare me.

I'm also known as Spinner Magaidh/Maggie, doing spinning demonstrations and hands-on lessons to school groups and local Renaissance faire patrons for over 15 years. I spin on drop spindles, supported spindles, and wheels. My patient family puts up with my processing raw wool in the bathtub and my small herd of wheels knowing that in the end they get soft, warm handknits.
