Craig is a longtime Science Fiction fan who is also known as Ranger Craig because of 23 years working for the National Park Service on Alcatraz Island.

An active user of early home computers (he had an Atari) he became excited with the availability of connecting to the Internet in the mid 1990's , and conspired with the folks at NPS Denver Service Center in 1995 to put up a web page for Alcatraz, creating www.nps.gov. Eventually the park service would catch up.

He was also very involved in early park service use of social media. He started the Twitter feed for the entire park service in 2009 in order reserve the name, He turned it over to the new social media team in WASO a few years later. This lead to Craig being the first person to piss off the new presdent of the United States in 2017. While thinking he was logged in to his personal account he retweeted side by side photos of Trump's and Obama's inaugeration crowds. NPS took the blame as they had never changed the original password over the years.
