Maya is the New York Times Bestselling co-author of The Antiquities Hunter (Pegasus Crime) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (with Michael Reaves). She became addicted to science fiction when her dad let her stay up late to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still. Her mom was scandalized; her father, unrepentant. Since then her stories have been published in Analog, Amazing Stories, Century, Realms of Fantasy, Interzone, Paradox and Jim Baen’s Universe. Her debut novel, The Meri (Baen), was a Locus Magazine 1992 Best First Novel nominee and her work has been nominated for the Nebula, British SF and Sidewise awards. She’s published over a dozen speculative fiction novels and is a founding member of the pro-writers’ co-op Book View Cafe (bookviewcafe.com). Maya lives in San Jose where she writes, performs, and records original and parody (filk) music with her husband and awesome musician and producer, Chef Jeff Vader, All-Powerful God of Biscuits. They’ve produced five music albums: RetroRocket Science, Aliens Ate My Homework, Grated Hits and Schrodinger's Hairball (parody), and original music CDs Manhattan Sleeps and Mobius Street, I Remember the Rain, and are in the final stages of a new project, Labyrinth.
