For four decades, Dr. Kenneth W. Stein has taught Middle Eastern History, Political Science and Israel Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2006, he was a visiting professor of political science at Brown University.  In the early 1970s he received his advanced degrees at The University of Michigan and studied for two years at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is a widely respected speaker and analyst.
He is the author of four books and other scholarly publications. His expertise focuses on American foreign policy to the Middle East, Arab politics, the origins of modern Israel, and Arab-Israeli negotiations. He has earned Emory’s recognition for his excellence in teaching and life-long mentoring of students. He was recognized for his intellectual integrity in speaking out against the falsehoods in former President Jimmy Carter’s 2006 book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid. His undergraduate class, “History, Politics, and Diplomacy of the Arab-Israeli Conflict” is one of the most popular classes at Emory.  His 1999 publication, Heroic Diplomacy, remains one of a several key books on the Egyptian- Israeli negotiations of the 1970s. It has appeared in both Hebrew and English.   His 1984 publication, The Land Question in Palestine, 1917-1939 likewise remains a scholarly standard for understanding Jewish nation building.  In 2015, he published an e-book, the most extensive documents/source book ever published on modern Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict. In 1998, Stein founded the first Institute for the Study of Modern Israel in the United States. In 2007, he founded and remains president of a non-profit, 501c3 entity, The Center for Israel Education. Through seminars, webinars, learning workshops, and curriculum writing, the Center for Israel Education has enriched Israel knowledge and learning for more than 2200 Jewish teachers and rabbis throughout North America, and they in turn more than 350,000 students. .
