Rabbi Nicole Auerbach is the Director of Congregational Engagement at Central Synagogue in New York City. In this capacity, she oversees a wide range of programming and experiences which connect members more deeply with one another, with Central, with Jewish tradition, and with God. Ordained by HUC-JIR in New York, Nicole sits on the CCAR's Committee on Worship and Practice, and serves as a member of the CCAR delegation to the North American Board of the URJ. She is the author, with Dr. Ron Wolfson and Rabbi Lydia Medwin, of The Relational Judaism Handbook: How to Create a Relational Engagement Campaign to Build and Deepen Relationships in Your Community (Kripke Institute, 2018), and has contributed to CCAR publications including The Sacred Exchange and the Mussar Torah Commentary. Before rabbinical school, Rabbi Auerbach worked as an attorney for 10 years, first as a federal public defender, and then as a media lawyer specializing in First Amendment issues.
