We think of the prioritizing of ethics over ritual as one of the distinguishing credits of liberal Judaism and modernity, but it turns out that they were on to us long ago! We will look at the brilliant way the Zohar challenges its readers to make feeding the hungry and welcoming strangers the lynchpin practice that determines whether or not God and the Avot will keep our company in our sukkot.
