What Values Inform a Thoughtful Jewish Position on the Health Care Debate?
with Rabbi Aaron Panken, PhD
Biblical and rabbinic texts posit a positive obligation to heal the sick and injured. How far does this obligation go? What are its limits? Does a society have an unlimited obligation to heal those in need if they cannot afford to pay for their own care? What are the obligations on doctors, specifically, to heal the indigent? This session will explore these obligations, and provide Jewish texts and answers for these serious questions that have a direct impact on the question of health care in the American context today.
