New Beginnings: The Triumphs of 120 Cancer Survivors

What:
Workshop
When:
3:15 PM, Tuesday 20 Mar 2018 (1 hour 15 minutes)
Where:
Hotel Irvine - Pelican Hill
How:
There are four phases of cancer: the diagnosis; the treatment; the silent, or post-treatment phase; and the acceptance that there will be a new beginning, a new normal. Since 2006 Bill Aron has been interviewing and photographing survivors about the 3rd and 4th stages of their experience.

Through Bill Aron’s photographs and excerpts from his interviews comes a clear picture of how people can evolve from the terror of diagnosis to a new and better “normal” in their lives. We all often hold contradicting thoughts, and incongruent viewpoints. In the presentation, Bill uses the survivors’ own words to explain how they learned to balance the contradiction of their situations so that they could move forward.
