Rabbi Ruth Alpers is the Clinical Program Manager for CPE, an ACPE Certified Educator, and a Staff Chaplain at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). Rabbi Alpers received her B.A. from Carleton College (1986), her MAHL (1993) and ordination as Rabbi (1994) from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Cincinnati. She is a Board Certified Chaplain (2002) with Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains, and she is certified as an ACPE Educator (2008). Before coming to CCHMC in 2010, Rabbi Alpers served as Associate Rabbi at Temple Israel in Boston, MA (1994-1999) and as Stein Director of Human Relations and Director of the CPE Program at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, an ACPE-accredited center (1999-2010). She served as Chair of the Accreditation Committee for the East Central Region of ACPE, and as such, she served on the Accreditation Commission, ACPE. She was the Chair of the National Accreditation Commission, ACPE (2014-2016). Rabbi Alpers served as a member of the CCAR Committee on Ethics and Appeals for six years, and as a member of the CCAR Board of Trustees for four years. She was also a member of the Ethics Committee of Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains. Her term on the ACPE Leadership Development Committee just ended, and she continues as a member of the Foundation for Clinical Pastoral Education Grant Review Committee.
