How:
Issac M. Wise was not only the principal organizer of the Reform Movement in North America, he was also a prolific writer and indefatigable conversationalist. Wise had three major goals: to construct an intellectually and spiritually authentic Judaism for modern times, to unite American Jews under a single religious banner, and to create a respected rabbinate to lead American Judaism. This seminar will focus on key texts which defined Wise's life and career. Participants will not only learn more about his many achievements and irrepressible spirit, but will also leave with study materials that can be used to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of Wise's birth (1919–2019).
