"Dr. Adriana Fishta-Bejko teaches in Calgary. She has successfully taught and trained teachers in three continents. She is a Fulbright Scholar and a recipient of “Who Is Who” in Education Leadership. Her expertise is in Brain-Based Learning and Second Language Acquisition.

Dr. Bejko has published a series of eight books called “Fun English”, based on thematic teaching methods, Structured English Immersion (SEI) and Universal Design for Learning. Her books cater to ELLs at different levels of proficiency and age groups. They teach English in context through themes from mainstream subjects and develop critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, good note-taking, etc.

Her main message is that in order to teach, one must learn. Teachers must learn from their mistakes by systematic reflection and what she calls Intentional Pedagogy, which applies equally to oneself and to one’s students. Leaving learning to chance, to be absorbed by ‘osmosis’, is just not good enough."
