Andrew is a grade 8 Math/Science teacher with Rocky View Schools. He is so passionate about Lego that he has made playing and using it as part of his teaching assignment. He and a colleague realized how underutilized this powerful manipulative was being used in classrooms, so they established various Communities of Practice, in Rocky View Schools. The focus of these CoP’s were to develop better teaching practices and to evaluate its effectiveness in the classroom. He has developed a Lego Art CTF class and has amassed a collection of over 120,000 pieces using school based budgets. He has created practical lessons and has encouraged other staff members to use it in various subjects and grades. He has hosted sessions at the Palliser Teachers’ Convention and the Calgary City Teachers' Convention.
