Step inside the AstroDome Planetarium as we explore the universe together. This workshop session will showcase how a modern digital planetarium can be used to enhance learning, with particular emphasis on how it can promote student understanding of the spatial concepts that students often struggle with in grade 6 (Sky Science) and grade 9 (Space Exploration). Concepts such as circumpolar constellations and the altitude-azimuth coordinate system are much easier to understand after viewing them in the immersive environment created inside the planetarium. In addition, participants will be introduced to some hands-on activities outside the planetarium and they will take away some Monday-morning-ready resources that will facilitate student engagement in their classroom.
