Success in writing depends on student attitude, motivation and engagement in the process. The Bear Necessities of Writing has been very successful in motivating and engaging younger students in the writing process. The strategies have now been adapted to target writers in grades 4-6. This session will provide you with a toolbox of strategies that will help you break writing into meaningful chunks for students to help them produce quality rather than quantity - more words does not always make better writing. This hour of fun activities provides teachers with strategies and examples to enhance their own writing program the very next day. All activities were designed by a classroom teacher for classroom teachers.
