Created by MindFuel and the Schulich School of Engineering, PhysicsFuel fosters essential skills needed for careers in engineering. The objectives of PhysicsFuel are: engage more youth through changing attitudes towards physics, energize student enrolment in physics courses at the high school and post-secondary level, increase female participation through relevancy and engagement of resources and tools, and highlight STEM career opportunities and post-secondary pathways. The PhysicsFuel session will introduce participants to the program rationale, discuss preliminary findings from the research team, and showcase the projects and tools being implemented in middle school and high school classrooms. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants should feel empowered with ideas to innovate their physics and engineering instruction, and energized to shift student attitudes for greater engagement in STEM.
