Teaching social justice in the classroom is crucial for preparing young people to become responsible global citizens in the 21st century. One of the most important roles of an educator is to help students develop the critical thinking, collaboration and self-reflection skills necessary to foster a better society. Attend this interactive session to examine “project-based inquiry” where teaching and learning is about deep understanding, application and social action. Examine ways to stimulate open-ended investigations that promote deep thought-processes and 21st century competencies. Teach with purpose through the exploration of compelling problems and issues that connect to “big ideas” such as tolerance, respect, understanding, and diversity. Help students use knowledge in ways that improve the world around us!
