As teachers in public education, we are all teachers of students with learning disabilities. It is estimated that 5-15% of school-age children have a learning disability and the majority of these students attend their community school. Learning disabilities can be very complex, are often not well understood, and can go unrecognized and unaddressed. This session will provide an introduction to learning disabilities for teachers at all grade levels. Participants will develop their understanding of what learning disabilities are and how they impact students in the classroom. Participants will also learn what to look for in the classroom and ideas for what to do and how to access further support if indicators of a learning disability are observed.
