Teaching listening is not the same as “Listen everyone.” There are some specific skills including listening for specifics, predicting, making inferences, distinguishing fact and opinion, accessing prior knowledge, ignoring distractions, and more. Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing – they are on every curriculum, but how often do we actually teach listening? Diana Cruchley presents engaging practical ideas for actually teaching grade 4-8 students how to listen, and what to listen for. They’ll love it, and your job will be easier.
