The zoo is a great place to draw – animals, plants and unique environments are all here!

Novice or expert, everyone can draw, a hands on practice to reopen possibilities using a sketchbook for art, science or multi-disciplines.

A hands-on, one-day studio ink pen drawing workshop at the zoo. We ask our art students to use their sketchbooks, but how many of us are comfortable using our own? Learn to use pen and ink to record observations, impressions and thoughts. Discover what a sketchbook might look like if seen through an artist's eyes by drawing 'from the inside out. Rich possibilities emerge through drawing, observing and writing. Drawing techniques, mark-making and common approaches to the sketchbook will be turned upside-down. Experience how the underused sketchbook offers you and your students a richer experience in drawing, discussing, critiquing and finding your muse. Help your students find theirs. This is potentially a transformative pedagogy for both teacher and student. Join instructor Ron Wigglesworth for an engaging creative workshop in the bio-lab specimen classroom and on zoo grounds. All levels welcome!

Bring a sketchbook, ink pens provided.
