Melissa Logan is an educator who has worked in the Alberta SPCA Education Department for 13 years. Engaging with teachers and other organizations, she has developed and collaborated on curriculum-relevant education programs and resources for Alberta teachers to inspire empathy and compassion for all living things, and enhance animal welfare across the province. She has presented on using literature to foster empathy for animals and people at national and international conferences.

She holds a BSc and a BEd from the University of Lethbridge and an MSc in Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh. She also serves on the board of directors for the Association of Professional Humane Educator and as a community representative for the Canadian Council on Animal Care.
