In 2003 Julie started her Iyengar yoga journey and has been dedicated to this style of yoga since then because she loves how it makes yoga accessible for every body, no matter what. She became certified in 2010 and has been teaching at various yoga studios in Calgary. When she teaches yoga, she keeps the mood light, with a sense of humour and encourages students to listen to and honour their bodies, using props like blocks, chairs and belts to help achieve the poses. Besides teaching yoga to adults, she has been an elementary school teacher since 2007, incorporating yoga and mindfulness every day. Also, Julie has 2 young, very energetic children at home, ages 3 and 4 years. Personally, practicing yoga and mindfulness helps her with pain relief, stress reduction and overall well-being.
