To inform, inspire, and to ignite is Michelle Bechthold's goal as she explores conceptual-based learning with elementary students. Michelle is a seasoned Master Teacher from Rocky View School Division and a co-recipient of the APEGA grant for Innovation in Education with colleague, Nancy Cole. Michelle has been Making Learning Visible within her school district and has written an education program for the Calgary Zoo.She is also involved as part of the Teacher Focus group for the new Social Studies curriculum. She is passionate about envisioning new ways of thinking, utilizing Arts and Technology, and engaging community support to make learning relevant and meaningful to students. Michelle has presented on Design Thinking at the Palliser Teachers' Convention. She has also collaborated with educators from Ambrose University, and the University of Calgary's IndigeSTEAM organization in looking for ways to integrate an Indigenous perspective through STEAM driven lessons in daily learning.
