Adrienne Jenkins BFA

Independent Artist
Participates in 1 Session
Adrienne's early art was influenced by her Ukrainian childhood experiences. Neighborhood yards, picket fences, clotheslines, family gatherings, and children playing added a positive outcome to tell stories in art. This became apparent during her formal training at Alberta University of the Arts (formerly Alberta College of Art and Design). The drawing and painting departments noticed narration was evident in her 2D and 3D art works. Adrienne continues pushing the limits by researching and experimenting with colour, paints, mixed media, and new art mediums. This knowledge is used in her art practice and during school art residencies where she passes on what she has learned to students and teachers. Currently she can be found in her studio ("Art Cave") working on new water lily watercolours and preliminary theme sketches. These theme sketches will in time become paintings of Ukrainian figures, narrative ideas, western wildlife, and felted fabric items. Finished works will be added to her web page Ukrainianart.ca. She finds enjoyment when interested teachers visit her in her home studio.
