Jennifer Garrison is one half of the Calgary belly dance duo, Nightingale Dance. She has been studying and performing Middle Eastern dance forms since 2002 and teaching dance in first New Jersey and then Calgary since 2007. She received her primary dance training in New York City and, since moving to Calgary a decade ago, she has continued her dance education with workshops with many internationally acclaimed dancers, including Aziza, Joharah, Jill Parker, and Mohamed Salah. In addition to dance, Dr. Garrison is an Associate Professor of literature and culture at St. Mary's University in Calgary. Through her teaching, scholarship, and dance, she is passionate about teaching students about cultural and gender diversity.
