Laura Rayner is a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Vi Riddell Pain & Rehabilitation Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary Alberta. This unique centre focuses on partnerships between clinical care and pediatric pain research; and offers specialized programming such as the Intensive Pain Rehabilitation Program for adolescents. Her previous clinical and leadership experience in areas including the pediatric intensive care unit, inpatient units, acute pain service and outpatient clinics has provided her with a diverse understanding of the importance of pain prevention, assessment and management. Laura co-led the successful Alberta Children’s Hospital ChildKind application and site visit. As part of the multidisciplinary pain committee, Laura continues to develop and evaluate evidence based pain programs and initiatives to ensure that children and families receive the best pain care possible within the hospital and beyond.
