Lauryn Record is the Coordinator: Interpretive Planning in the Customer Experience department at the Calgary Zoo. Lauryn has worked as a front-line interpreter, interpretive lead, and in interpretive planning, and is a Certified Interpretive Guide with the National Association of Interpretation. Lauryn has a Master of Science from the University of Calgary and her thesis work advocates for integrating interpretive pedagogy into exhibit design. She focused on fostering scientific literacy and understanding of evolutionary biology in natural history-focused facilities, and she continues to expand that work to reflect mission-based educational goals at all types of non-formal educational facilities. She also spent 2 years as the Calgary Zoo’s resident Penguin Interpreter, and loves to share stories of these incredible creatures. Lauryn’s work in curating and designing learning experiences for zoo visitors has been recognized by the Alberta Museum Association.
