J. Eric Gentry, PhD, LMHC is a board-certified expert and international leader in the study and treatment of traumatic stress and compassion fatigue. He was the co-developer of the Accelerated Recovery Program for Compassion Fatigue in 1997. In 1998, he introduced the Compassion Fatigue Prevention: Fitness for the Frontline workshop. This workshop was presented to tens of thousands of health professionals in the US, Europe, Australia, Africa and South America over the past 20 years. In 2004, he began data collection with this workshop and discovered that the workshop was an effective treatment for the symptoms of compassion fatigue. Since then eleven studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals detaining the significantly positive treatment effects for attendees of this workshop. Dr. Gentry is the author of the paradigm-shifting Forward-Facing® Trauma Therapy published in 2016. He is also the co-author of Forward-Facing® Professional Resilience: Prevention and Resolution of Burnout, Toxic Stress and Compassion Fatigue; Forward-Facing® Professional Resilience: Workbook: Healing Doesn’t Have To Hurt, Trauma Practice: Tools for Stabilization & Recovery, and Transformative Care: A Trauma-Focused Approach to Caregiving.


Dr. Gentry is the vice president and co-owner of the Arizona Trauma Institute and CEO of Compassion Unlimited. He is an accomplished psychotherapist, consultant, lecturer, educator and researcher. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is also a recording artist/musician and avid Ducatista motorcyclist.
