Iitoomsao’kaasii completed the Renewable Resources Management program from the Lethbridge College, and subsequently attained a Bachelor of Science in environmental sciences at the University of Lethbridge. Diandra worked as a junior forest ranger crew leader, forestry technician, and wildlife technician; she found her passion in the outdoors and mingling with trees. As a Blackfoot woman, she aimed her studies on Traditional Ecological Knowledge and the importance of protecting native environments from an eco-spiritual perspective. Diandra has served the Kainai First Nation as the Climate Change Coordinator since 2017; and through her training in classical western science, the projects Diandra work on aim to braid Traditional Knowledge into climate change policy. She helped organize the Kainai High School Earthwatch Stewardship club and advocates for youth environmental education and connection. She is a member of the Kainai Ecosystem Protection Association, has graduated from the Alberta Climate Leadership Program, is a Fellow with the Energy Futures Lab, and a Board Director with the Alberta Environment Network.
