Game-based learning is an approach to curriculum and teaching that uses principles of game theory and design to create rich curricular tasks that engage and motivate learners and provide ongoing assessment. Erin and Tara will share how they designed their entire grade 8 Social Studies year as game-based projects. In this approach, they noticed that students were able to connect more deeply to the content and collaborate in more purposeful ways. As teachers, we were able to respond more deeply to student learning, and provide frequent and instantaneous feedback to move learning forward.
