Music can be a powerful classroom tool. In second-language oral production, music can help students obtain more precise pronunciation, intonation, and rhythmic awareness while boosting their decoding skills, vocabulary acquisition, working memory, motivation, and ability to encode and retrieve information. In this interactive workshop, I will teach participants a song in French using a step-by-step method influenced by the neurolinguistic approach. Afterward, participants will work in groups to create their own lesson with a pre-selected song in their choice of English, French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin and present to the other groups. Participants will also receive a handout of helpful tips. This workshop is appropriate for all teachers, regardless of musical abilities.
