This session is for school staff who work with immigrant and refugee families. Participants will learn about the journey of new Canadians from the arrival at the airport to housing, schooling, family wrap-around and job training supports that CCIS provides. The focus will be on what CCIS can offer and how schools can help support families. This session will be held at the Calgary Catholic Immigration Services (CCIS) to provide a first hand look at the resources and supports that are available, and to offer a mini workshop on the Cultural Thinking Framework that offers tools and strategies for working with newcomer families. Please join us for this unique learning opportunity!
