This presentation is based on PhD research where learning relationships shared by Indigenous and non-Indigenous educators were described through stories. We will consider the selection of stories that were shared, all from public school settings where people chose to relate and learn alongside one another. We will then look to some of the underlying strengths of these relationships and discuss how qualities like openness, being genuine, working through painful and uncomfortable conversations about colonization, and sharing humour and trust apply in our own contexts. There will be time for personal anecdotes and discussion with research stories as our launch point.
