Anxiety is at epidemic levels among children and teens. Because teachers have such an influential role in the lives and learning of students, it is critical they understand what anxiety is, what it looks like in the classroom, and what to do to help.

This workshop will promote teachers’ understanding of anxiety and how to identify students experiencing anxiety; especially when that anxiety is seemingly invisible. Participants will learn how anxiety affects learning and how traditional ways of offering help may unwittingly feed into students’ worries.

The majority of the session will focus on practical, evidence-based strategies to help students manage their anxiety in the classroom and to promote their resilience and overall well-being. Information related to useful (vs. maladaptive) goals and approaches to addressing anxiety is provided.
