Looking for films that reach a diverse student demographic and successfully create worthwhile classroom discussion? Want to utilize movies that successfully bridge to a variety of text? This session will provide a visual media buffet from full length features to short form creations that engage students and allow you to let go of all those dusty old VHS tapes and scratched DVDs that have been used since the days of Blockbuster. This session will provide a plethora of sources to choose from (everything from film classics to thought provoking contemporary features) that can be of benefit to ELA, Social Studies, and/or Humanities. Fictional and non-fictional film sources will be shared. Sample assignments will be provided and time will be given for group discussion/questions if desired.
