Music and BandDrama and DanceSpecial Education
Half Day Workshop
9:00 AM, Thursday 13 Feb 2020 (2 hours 45 minutes)
Location : TransAlta Performing Arts Studios - Jack Osler Room

Accessible to all, this interactive and multicultural workshop provides teachers with the necessary tools to facilitate a drum circle using an innovative method created 25 years ago. With more than 40 drums and other percussion instruments from around the world, Louise Raymond guides participants through traditional rhythms, percussive techniques, songs: African dialect, English, Spanish and French, traditional dance and rhythm activities. The workshop culminates with sample improvisational activities that create a rich learning environment for children.

Through this workshop, teachers will acquire an additional educational technique that stimulates the artistic and intellectual creativity in children and reinforces cognitive development. Workshop participants will leave with tools and ideas to encourage children to explore their sense of rhythm and celebrate community! No musical experience is required!
