Esther is a most intriguing, but often overlooked and misunderstood, biblical figure who comes to age as an outsider, an orphan of the Exile living in the land of Persia (modern day Iran). Her ascension to royal status as well as quick wittedness and bold courage enables her to save her people from certain destruction. This talk provides a glimpse into the life of Esther, her uncle Mordecai, their life in exile and daring deeds while providing educators a context for their significance within a Religious Education learning environment.
