Gamify the study of physical, human, and regional geography by staging a zombie apocalypse! Students learn about Canada’s regional resources, landforms, waterways, climate, and more in order to survive a zombie outbreak and rebuild Canadian society. They’ll need to consider logistics such as climate, latitude/longitude, and geographical features. Engage your students through mini-challenges, the discipline of geography and good old-fashioned competition. Students will explore the tools of geography, including various maps and map projections, ARCGIS, and Google Earth. This unit meets many outcomes of the Social Studies program of studies and has been prototyped in various forms in Grade 5 & 7 GATE, Science, and community programs. We’ll provide a basic framework that you are able to personalize for your own classroom. Grr, argh!
