How:
Astronomy is a gateway science. It engages people in physics, chemistry, geology, biology, social sciences and many other fields. Astronomy opens the window to the heavens and excites young minds to pursue and further their education. The next generation of diverse scientists and engineers are being trained right now and we need to capture their imaginations so they can reach their maximum potential. Simon Poole will highlight the success of the more than 600 volunteers with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s Calgary Centre who has provided inclusive free services to schools, youth groups and libraries throughout the region. There will be a presentation followed by an interactive session full of Q&A, handouts, and information for free observatory tours for anyone in the education occupation.
