Dr. Ingrid Biedron is a marine scientist for Oceana, working as a member of the Climate and Energy team. She focuses on ensuring that marine management policies are founded on sound science and support healthy and sustainable marine ecosystems. Ingrid's background includes research in marine mammal acoustics, fisheries policy, ecosystem-based fisheries management and the human dimensions of natural resource management. Her doctoral research focused on the implementation of ecosystem-based fisheries management in the Mid-Atlantic and New England Fishery Management Councils. From 2003 to 2009, Ingrid worked at the Cornell University Bioacoustics Research Program studying the acoustic behavior of whales. There she led research initiatives documenting North Atlantic Right Whale acoustic behavior in New England and the Mid-Atlantic and determining potential impacts of anthropogenic noise on the ability of whales to hear and use sound. Ingrid holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a MS and PhD from Cornell University. She is originally from Chelsea, Michigan.
