Elijah Mayfield serves as vice president of new technologies for Turnitin, where he focuses on building automated feedback and assessment technologies to improve student learning. Elijah joined Turnitin when it acquired LightSide Labs, where he served as co-founder and CEO. He received his master’s degree in language technology from Carnegie Mellon University and was a recipient of a 2011 Siebel Scholarship. Elijah also received a 2013 IBM Ph.D. Fellowship and has been recognized as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum. His work has been featured by NPR, Education Week and EdSurge, among many others, and his research on LightSide for automated assessment was highlighted as an Editor’s Choice in Science. He also is an author or co-author on more than 25 peer-reviewed publications on language technologies in leading international venues. Elijah is located in our Pittsburgh office.
