Yarewe

Participates in 3 items
Currently an artist, formerly an electrical power designer, member of the Longshoremen's Union, employment counselor to refugee scientists, and sound engineer/actress for Shoestring Radio Theatre, Yarewe (aka Cynthia Cravens) enjoys teaching the art of medieval illumination, the application of gold leaf and gouache paint on parchment, in a variety of settings...commercial art stores, SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) events, community art programs, and scriptoria in Bay Area churches.

For Yarewe, there is nothing quite like recreating the weird and wonderful grotesques, hybrids and monsters found in the marginalia of 9th - 15th century manuscripts, the "comic books" of the medieval era.

Yarewe lives in San Francisco with Mr. Underfoot, her somewhat-cognitvely-impaired tuxedo kitty, and her partner and better half, Elkhorn (aka Arthur Taber), who has his own passion for wonderful grotesques: for the past 35+ years, he's volunteered in the rescue of sick or starving elephant seals.
