Gary K. Wolfe, Emeritus Professor of Humanities at Roosevelt University, is a reviewer for Locus magazine and the Chicago Tribune. His reviews have been collected in three volumes and his Evaporating Genres: Essays on Fantastic Literature received a 2012 Locus Award. For the Library of America, he edited American Science Fiction: Nine Classic Novels of the 1950s in 2012 and American Science Fiction: Eight Classic Novels of the 1960s in 2019. His 24-lecture series How Great Science Fiction Works appeared 2016. He received distinguished achievement awards from the Science Fiction Research Association and the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts, a World Fantasy Award for criticism, and nine Hugo nominations, two for reviews collections and seven for The Coode Street Podcast, co-hosted with Jonathan Strahan. He edits the Modern Masters of Science Fiction series for the University of Illinois Press and serves on the editorial boards of two journals.
