G. David Nordley is the pen name of Gerald D. Nordley, author and astronautical engineer with degrees in physics and systems management. A USAF retiree, Gerald worked in spacecraft systems, orbital mechanics, and advanced propulsion. He is active in "The Experimental Rocket Propulsion Society" and "CONTACT: Cultures of the Imagination." His last paper was "Mass Beam Propulsion..." with Adam Crowl in JBIS. In writing, his main interest is human exploration and settlement of space, focusing on the dramatic aspects of individual lives in a plausible human future. He is a past Hugo and Nebula nominee and four-time winner of Analog's "AnLab" reader's poll. His latest book is a collection, Around Alien Suns from Brief Candle Press. His novelette, "Empress of Starlight," appeared in the Nov-Dec 2018 Analog. He and his wife Gayle, a retired Apple engineer, live in Sunnyvale, CA. They have three children.
